BrownDust2 Burst System Guide: Strange Request Event May 2026

Brown Dust 2’s biggest mechanical addition yet just went live. The Burst system launched with the Strange Request season event on May 7, 2026, fundamentally changing how you build and use costumes in battle. If you haven’t logged in this week, here’s everything you need to know before the event ends May 21.

What Is the Burst System?

Burst lets you spend extra SP during battle to supercharge a costume’s skills and stats. Think of it as a mid-fight power mode — activate it and your selected costume hits harder for the duration.

Costumes level up through three Burst stages using Gold and a new material called Berserk Ember. At launch, eight costumes support Burst. Three- and four-star costume support is planned after the five-star roster gets updated.

There’s also an Auto Burst toggle, so you can let the game apply it automatically if you’d rather not manage it manually each fight.

Strange Request Event & Banner Details

The Strange Request event is set in a magical girl-themed café and runs May 7 – May 21 (before maintenance). It includes Normal Battle, Challenge Battle, Field Quests, and a Fiend Hunter.

The pickup banner features Miracle Violet Palette — Palette’s new Dark-attribute 5★ costume with the exclusive gear Dreinio. This is a non-limited costume: after May 21 maintenance it moves to the Powder of Hope Shop and Selective Draw, so there’s no FOMO pressure if you don’t pull now.

DJ Venaka rerun pickup runs alongside it from May 14–28, giving you a second banner to split resources between.

Fiend Hunter & Other Content

Giant Cat Rou (Water) is the Fiend Hunter target this rotation, active May 14–20. Prioritise this if you need Water-type clear rewards before it closes.

A new Refinement Trace Shop also launched with this update, stocking Gear Score Change Tickets — useful if you’ve been sitting on gear you want to reroll into a better score bracket.

For context, Miracle Violet Palette is part of Character Pack 9: Miracle★Twinkle, which introduced the trio of magical girls — Mamonil, Liberta, and Palette — when the pack launched April 23.

Is Miracle Violet Palette Worth Pulling?

She’s a Burst-system costume at launch, meaning she’s one of the eight that can use the new mechanic from day one. Pair that with a non-limited status (she’ll be farmable via Powder of Hope after the event) and she’s a low-risk target for F2P players who want to test Burst without committing hard currency.

The Strange Request event ends before the next maintenance on May 21. Check the official BrownDust2 website for the exact maintenance window.
