Grand Theft Auto VI everything we know

Grand Theft Auto VI is coming. After years of silence, a delay, and two trailers
that broke the internet, Rockstar’s next monster is locked in for November 19,
2026
. Summer marketing is right around the corner — so if you’ve been out of the
loop, now’s the time to catch up.

Here’s everything officially confirmed so far.

Release Date and Platforms

GTA VI launches Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and
Xbox Series X|S.

That date wasn’t always the plan. Rockstar originally targeted May 26, 2026
before pushing back to November, citing the need for extra polish.

“These extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish
you have come to expect.”
— Rockstar Games

No PC release date has been announced. Console players go first.

Where You’re Going: Vice City and the State of Leonida

GTA VI returns to a fan-favourite setting — Vice City — but expands it into a
wider region called the state of Leonida. Think sun, neon, and chaos on a
grand scale. Rockstar describes it as “the biggest, most immersive evolution of
the Grand Theft Auto series yet.”

Who You’re Playing: Jason and Lucia

For the first time in the mainline series, GTA VI features two protagonists:

CharacterFull Name
🕶️ Male leadJason Duval
🔫 Female leadLucia Caminos

Their story drops them into “a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of
Leonida” — officially described as “the darkest side of the sunniest place in
America.” The Trailer 2 reveal of their full names sent the fanbase into a frenzy.

The Trailers

Two trailers are out. Both are essential watching.

Trailer 1 — dropped December 2023 and immediately became one of the most
watched game trailers ever.

Trailer 2 — released May 2025 alongside the original release date announcement.
It racked up over 475 million views in its first 24 hours. Yes, really.

Both are on Rockstar’s official YouTube if you somehow haven’t seen them.

What’s Coming Next

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has confirmed that marketing will ramp up in summer
2026
 — which means a Trailer 3, pre-order details, and likely a lot more are
on the horizon. With November 19 six months out, things are about to get loud.
